Nicole Mitchell

Our second spotlight, for September, is Nicole Mitchell, RN. She is saving lives and having so much fun, exploring the world. Read all about her!
1.)How long have you been a nurse?  I have been a RN for 12 years to date with 10 of those years in critical care nursing.
2.)Why did you decide to become a nurse? I decided to become a nurse for many reasons. At a young age, around 5 years old, I can remember wanting to help friends and family who suffered injuries while playing outside. I would be the one to get the peroxide, cotton
balls, Neosporin ointment, and bandaid them up. The feeling of knowing that I just made someone feel better was awesome and exciting! Growing up in an improvised community, forced me to want more in life. I
looked up to one of my aunts, who is a nurse, and how she lived. After having two kids by the age of 19 and working in a factory to make ends meet, I decided that I was going back to school to become a nurse. I felt
like I had to prove to everyone I let down (high school track team, coaches, teachers, and mentors) that I could still be successful after teenage pregnancy. I graduated from an ADN program by the age of 21!
3.)Tell us about your company, how you are connecting the community and healthcare, and how your business can help healthcare professionals.  My! I have a few! Nicole The Nurse Enterprise (NTN) include
everything business related I do in healthcare. Vacations For Nurses by Nurses, LLC is one of the businesses I formed earlier this year. My mission is to encourage nurses to take time out for themselves and relax! This
business venture allows nurses to rejuvenate, network with like-minded professionals, build personal, and professional relationships.
NTN also offers professional resume building and services, CCRN study sessions, mentorship to inspiring nurses, novice nurses, and experienced nurses.
4.)What are your passions outside of nursing? Outside of nursing, my passion is working out and being healthy.
I never have thought about this question to be honest. I don’t think I have
another passion.
5.)Where do you see yourself, within the nursing profession, in 5 years?  I definetly see myself as an entrepreneur and hopefully a CRNA in 5 years.
6.) What are you most proud of/biggest accomplishment(s)? I am most proud of becoming a nurse, firstly. Secondly, I am proud of the fact that I gained two nursing certifications, CCRN and Cardiac Medicine Certification.
7.) If you were not a nurse what would your career be?  If I wasn’t a nurse, I would probably be a track coach, or working for NASA.
